As part of the Erasmus+ program, our students recently had the incredible opportunity to visit their German counterparts and their families at "Gesamtschule Weierheide" in Oberhausen. This experience not only deepened the bonds forged during the German students' visit to our school but also provided a platform to continue working on sustainability and environmental awareness.

Collaborative Work on Sustainability and Ecology

During their stay, our students actively participated in various activities focused on sustainability and ecology. They collaborated with their German peers on projects aimed at reducing waste and promoting eco-friendly practices both at school and within the local community.

Exploring Cologne and the Christmas Markets

Beyond school activities, the trip included a cultural excursion to Cologne, where students were amazed by the iconic Cologne Cathedral and enjoyed a tour of the city’s historic landmarks. The visit coincided with the Christmas season, allowing the students to immerse themselves in the magical atmosphere of Germany’s traditional Christmas markets. The vibrant stalls, festive decorations, and treats such as gingerbread and hot chocolate created unforgettable memories for everyone.

A Warm Welcome from German Families

The hospitality of the German families played a crucial role in making this trip an extraordinary experience. Our students were warmly welcomed into their homes, where they experienced daily life, cultural traditions, and local cuisine. This immersion not only strengthened their language skills in English and German but also deepened their understanding of German culture and lifestyle.

Building Bridges for the Future

This visit to "Gesamtschule Weierheide" was a testament to the power of international collaboration and cultural exchange. It reaffirmed the importance of working together to address global challenges such as sustainability while fostering mutual respect and friendship.

We are deeply grateful to our German hosts for their kindness and generosity, and we look forward to continuing this collaboration in future Erasmus+ projects.
